8:00 | Pickup from Heraklion Private transfer toward Zaros village and lake area. Arrival at Zaros Lake Begin the hike along the E4 trail. Trek Through Agios Nikolaos Gorge Walk beside waterfalls, rivers, and natural ponds surrounded by mountain scenery. Explore Rouvas Holly Forest Discover one of Crete’s most important protected forest ecosystems. Relax at Ai Giannis Picnic Area Enjoy a rest stop with mountain spring water and scenic surroundings. Optional Trek to Dyo Prini Viewpoint Continue for panoramic views across Zaros, Rouvas Forest, and the Messara Plain. Return to Heraklion Private transfer back after the trekking experience.
What to know before
The main hiking route to Rouvas Forest is approximately 5 km. The trek follows natural mountain and forest terrain. Guests can choose between a shorter return route or an extended hike to Dyo Prini viewpoint. Suitable for participants with moderate physical condition. Weather conditions may affect the hiking route.
